The Sandpoint Future Invitational is an invite only basketball tournament held in Sandpoint, Idaho early in 2026 (please check back for dates). In order to register, a team must be directly invited by a Sandpoint Future coach. If you are interested in playing, but have not been invited please contact us.

  • Tournament format will be pool play.
  • Medals will be awarded to the 1st place team in each division.
  • Games will consist of two 20 minute halves.  Running clock except for the last two minutes of the second half (see rules).
  • Games will be played according to NFHS rules unless noted in the game rules below.

Tournament Rules:

  1. NFHS rules govern all play unless otherwise specified.
  2. Games will consist of two 20 minute halves.  Running clock except for the last two minutes of the second half.  If there is a lead of 10 points or more at the two minute mark in the second half, the clock will continue to run for the remainder of the game.
    1. Overtime – 2 minutes.  Game ends in a tie if the score is even after the first OT.
    2. Three minute halftime.
  3. Two (2) full timeouts per half.  No carry over.
    1. One additional timeout in overtime.
  4. Press Rule: No pressing allowed by a team who is ahead by 20 points.
  5. Team fouls will reset at the 10 minute mark of each half.  Five or more team fouls will result in two free throws.
  6. A technical foul will result in two (2) points for the opposing team and possession of the ball. Two (2) technical fouls by any one player or coach will result in automatic suspension from play or coaching for the remainder of the tournament.
  7. Home team is responsible for providing the ball for each game.  Home team will sit to the right of the scoring table (while standing on the court facing the scorekeeper’s table).
  8. Each team will provide a scorekeeper.  Scorekeepers must remain impartial and professional.
  9. Head coaches are responsible for the behavior of bench personnel, players, and fans.  Harassment or unsportsmanlike conduct towards officials may result in removal of a player, coach, or fan from the remaining duration of the tournament.
